Naxxramas Returns, Part 1
Posted by Aurelius on September 7th, 2008 @ 10:47 AM
Forlorn Legacy has begun testing the new Naxxramas on the beta realms and so far things are going very nicely, the dungeon is very well tuned, nothing seems too difficult so far but we've yet to see some of the more difficult encounters that lie ahead. Here is a good summary of the fights we've experienced thus far...
The Arachnid Quarter (formerly "Spider Wing")
Anub'rekhan - Pretty much the same encounter, he only spawns one add and will not do so until some time into the fight. Locust Swarm now slows Anub'rekhan's movement speed so you no longer need a hunter to use kite him to the other side.
Grand Widow Faerlina - Instead of mind controlling the adds and using their ability, you just kill them to dispell the enrage. The 10 man version of the dungeon has 4 adds that you can use, so you have to kill her before you run out of adds.
Maexxna - The raid-wide web spray only lasts for about 3 seconds, removing the need for ridicious amounts of HoT's to keep the tank alive, however they certainly help during the enrage.
The Plague Quarter (formerly "Plague Wing")
Noth The Plaguebringer - Same exact fight with obviously less adds and no curse. He still casts cripple which needs to be dispelled quick!
Heigan The Unclean - Heigan will no longer teleport random people to another room, and instead of doing an AoE mana burn, he casts and AoE debuff that increases the cast time of your spells by 300%, so positioning is pretty important. The dance seems a lot more forgiving now, there is more of a gap in between slashes. Welcome to casual Naxxramas!
Loatheb - I was very much looking forward to this fight, the essence of the encounter has remained the same. Loatheb will still spawn spores in the same fashion as before, and the effect they casuse is the same (60% spell crit, 50% melee crit, abilities cause no threat). Instead of casting a debuff on healers after they cast their heals, Loatheb casts a raid wide 100% healing reduction debuff that lasts for 16 seconds, once that 16 seconds is up you have roughly a 2 second window to throw out heals to the raid. Protip for pallies, at 2 seconds remaining on your debuf start casting a holy light, then immediately holy shock, and if you're lucky you'll get an infusion of light proc allowing you to throw out another holy light!
The Military Quarter (formerly "Death Knight Wing")
Instructor Razuvious - The mechanics of this encounter have been changed to remove the need for a priest. There are now two "obedience crystals" that you can use to mind control the Deathknight Understudies. Rotate taunts between the two understudies, keep shield wall on cooldown and collect your free loot! Don't worry about disrupting shout either, it no longer burns mana, but it does do around 3k damage to the entire raid.

Forlorn Legacy Defeats Kil'jaeden!
Posted by Aurelius on July 14th, 2008 @ 12:49 AM
On July 14th, 2008, Forlorn Legacy defeated the final encounter in the Sunwell Plateau, Kil'Jaeden! We have spent four months in the Sunwell...and to say this guild has been through a lot is an understatement...from new recruits buying boats and quitting, people "re-evaluating their life", officers stealing sunmotes for their buddies, volleyball tournaments, GM's going casual, cats ranomly catching fire, members getting hacked and transferred off the server, enhancement shaman going "afk a couple...?", racist jokes, alt prot paladins in Sunwell, 6 hour BT clears, constant disconnects, "my bad", rogues who can't figure out how to get on vent, partial T6 priests for KJ, resto druids in crap gear outperforming feral druids, car wrecks, gnome warriors who get stabbed (gg no stoneform), real life feign deaths, resto shaman with less than 30 played days...yeah, it's been one hell of a ride...an interesting ride.
Kil'Jaeden is an awesome raid encounter, perfectly tuned and very well designed. Blizzard definately maintained the "epic" feeling you got from fights like Kel'Thuzad or Illidan. Major props to Blizzard for creating THE most challenging raid dungeon ever created, we look forward to all the new challenges coming in Wrath of the Lich King! PS - Hey blizz, we need beta keys! Halp!
Oh hey, guess what? We're also recruiting! This time we're looking for a Sunwell/BT geared Mage (Fire) and Warrior (Protection) if you feel as though you have the skill, playtime and dedication to be a full time raiding member of Forlorn Legacy, then feel free to check out our recruitment center, or just send your application in! While we are only actively recruiting those two classes, exceptional players who feel that they can take their class to the next level are encouraged to apply!
Update: The video is now available for download! This is a multiple perspective video, featuring 3 point of views, Lathander (Resto Druid), Luddy (Warlock) and Aurelius (Holy Paladin). We are happy to present this kill video in 3 different formats, standard definition (840x524), high definition (1680x1050) and the ever so popular streaming version. The high defintion video weighs in at just under 1GB but I assure you it is quite worth the download! If you're on Cable/DSL I highly recommend that you take the time to download the HD version, but if you're on something a bit slower.

Forlorn Legacy Defeats M'uru!
Posted by Aurelius on June 9th, 2008 @ 12:49 AM
On the fourth attempt of the night, Forlorn Legacy has defeated the penultimate raid encounter in the Sunwell Plateau, M'uru! This has truly been the most challenging encounter we as a guild have ever faced. In order to get a kill, everyone must be perfect, with extra emphasis on perfect...one mistake and it's pretty much a wipe. The concept behind this fight is very simple, kill adds...kill adds...kill adds, it's all in the execution.
Our guild has certainly gone through a lot of changes in the past month, we have a new GM, a few new officers, but we have never been more determined to beat this encounter. Thanks go out to all the members who logged on every day with that goal in mind. It's certainly a privilege to raid with you guys and now it's time for us to kick Kil'Jaeden's big red ass!

Meet M'uru
Posted by Aurelius on May 1st, 2008 @ 9:14 PM
Blizzard has opened the 2nd gate, Rohendor, which opens up the penultimate raid encounter in the Sunwell Plateau, M'uru. M'uru was once the guardian of Tempest Keep until he was captured by Kael'thas Sunstrider and brought to Silvermoon City. M'uru's power was being drained by the blood knights (horde paladins). When Kael'thas was defeated at Tempest Keep, he escaped back to Azeroth, re-captured M'uru and brought him to the Sunwell Plateau.

We had some limited experience with the M'uru encounter on the PTR, but like most guilds, we were somewhat unsuccessful. This encounter is a straight up DPS race, every single second counts.

Forlorn Legacy Defeats The Eredar Twins!
Posted by Aurelius on April 20th, 2008 @ 11:43 PM
After days and days of attempts, Forlorn Legacy has defeated the 4th boss encounter in the Sunwell Plateau, The Eredar Twins!
This encounter is quite challenging to say the least. The going theme in the Sunwell thus far seems to be clearing debuffs, on Kalecgos you need to clear arcane buffet, on Brutallus you need to clear Meteor Strike. With the Eredar Twins encounter, debuff management is once again vital. Every time you take fire damage, you gain the stackable debuff, Flame Touched and whenever you take shadow damage, you gain Dark Touched.
Each sister also has their own unique "special" ability, Grand Warlock Alythess has Conflagaration and Lady Sacrolash has Shadow Nova. One of the keys to understanding this fight is to know how Conflagaration and Shadow Nova work, and i'll give you a hint, look at the emotes ;)

Meet The Eredar Twins
Posted by Aurelius on April 9th, 2008 @ 12:56 AM
Today Blizzard deactivated the first Sunwell gate, Agamath! The closing of this gate opens up a new boss encounter, The Eredar Twins, Lady Sacrolash and Grand Warlock Alythess! We started about an hour early and cleared the first three bosses fairly easilly (some suckage on Brutallus and Kalecgos) and proceeded to the Twins.
After killing Felmyst, we began clearing the gauntlet to the Twins lair, it's very much like the gauntlet on the way to Akil'Zon (Eagle Avatar) in Zul'Aman. For the most part, the gauntlet is pretty easy, especially if you have an abundance of CC. It's been heavilly nerfed from its original version on the PTR that we loved oh so much (lol). We were able to get in a few attempts on the Twins but didn't have much luck. We're going back in first thing tommorow so stay tuned!

Forlorn Legacy Defeats Felmyst
Posted by Aurelius on March 31st, 2008 @ 3:11 AM
After a good 2 days of attempts, Forlorn Legacy defeated the 3rd boss encounter in the new 25 man raid instance, the Sunwell Plateau. The Felmyst encounter is your basic dragon-style encounter with 2 phases, a flight phase, and a ground phase. During the ground phase, Felmyst has a few abilities to overcome, the first one is Gas Nova, which is cast on the entire raid and must be removed in 2 seconds or less. The second ability is Encapsulate, which targets one random raid member and causes 3500 arcane damage to everyone around them.

Forlorn Legacy Defeats Brutallus
Posted by Aurelius on March 30th, 2008 @ 2:57 PM
One solid day of attempts was all it took for Forlorn Legacy to defeat the pit lord Brutallus, the 2nd encounter in the Sunwell Plateau! This fight is as simple as they get, tank and spank, with some other minor abilities such as Burn and Meteor Slash...and a 6 minute enrage timer! Brutallus has around 10 million hit points, and with 6 minutes to kill him, your raid has to push out roughly 28,000 RDPS in order to beat the enrage timer.

Forlorn Legacy Rescues Kalecgos
Posted by Aurelius on March 29th, 2008 @ 1:57 PM
On our first night in the Sunwell Plateau, Forlorn Legacy rescued Kalecgos from the grasp of Sathrovarr the Corruptor. We had spent a good majority of our time on the PTR working on Kalecgos so everyone knew the basic strategy. This is an excellent introductory boss encounter that is not only a gear check, but a skill check. This encounter actually features two battles, both of which must be won in order to free Kalecgos.
